For those that have read it, these essays will provide very useful additional insight into this GREAT and very complex mind. I like very much Robert Musil but this is a horrible, address essay precision soul, unreadable translation! I REALLY BELIEVE THAT WE ARE IN A TIMES OF BIGG STUPID FOOLS!
While these essays will be of particular interest as a counterpart to his immense and unfinished novel, they will also be of tremendous interest in their own right, as they afford the reader all manner of insights into the most important historical and cultural developments of the early-twentieth century and the looming crises of mid-century European civilization. My only complaint is that the translations lack the uniquely supple quality of Musil's German, which at times leaves the prose of these renderings seeming rather stiff and wooden.
